Based on organically grown tea leaves from the Nishi Tea Factory in Kirishima, Kagoshima Prefecture, the addition of tea from the mountains of Shizuoka Prefecture adds a refreshing aroma that founder Kozo Handa loved to call 'mountain fragrance'.
This is our most popular sencha, achieving a balance of fine aroma and taste.
It was awarded a 2-star gold medal at the Great Taste Awards 2022, an international food competition in the UK.

I grew up in Asagaya and have cherished this tea since childhood. After getting married, I spent years searching for a tea I truly loved, but nothing quite matched it. When the world moved online, I was overjoyed to discover I could order from Handa-en's website ? and I've placed several orders since. The color, the flavor, the aroma ? everything is simply perfect. I'll absolutely be back.

It was my grandmother who first taught me the joy of Japanese tea. She passed away, but she had given me Chiyo no Kaori every single day, and I used to visit Ogikubo often just to buy it for her. I've tried various teas over the years, but I always find myself coming back to Chiyo no Kaori. It's my go-to ? and a tea filled with precious memories.
Thank you so much for sharing something so dear to you with us. Reading your message filled us with both deep gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility. Whether through our online shop or in person ? please do stop by our Ogikubo store whenever you find yourself in the area.
